“Been There and Done That ??”

Just when you think that you have seen it all, the universe throws a snow ball at you, it may turn into an avalanche that crushes you or may just sting you really hard...... however you want to take it, but it’s universe’s weird sense of humour; a way of telling you that you need a reality check, that’s when you realise that you were in an illusion or heading towards one.

Sometimes to get a reality check, one may feel the need to test their limits, by doing something that indulges them, some people do insanity- work outs, some do marathons, some become workoholics, some alcoholics and some take the road full of substances each one has their own form of therapy. What counts at the end of it is where do you draw a line and a question; Are you enjoying it ?? The answers may vary from person to person and their experiences.

In these 2 years of my newfound freedom, I took a few stings, a few avalanches, tried becoming a workaholic, and people took me as an alcoholic, I met and spoke to a hell load of new and old people. Meeting/ speaking to people grew on me to that extent, that more than an extrovert trait it became my therapy or I like to call it my “Sanctuary” this new addiction has made me realise a lot of things, more than the human psychology aspect of it, but this helped me understand my own psychology.  On my road to being a better human being, i was revealed to a new set of traits and array of habits of my own, to that extent that I started hogging on people’s life experiences and sharing mine, in simple terms I call it “venting out while listening”. Most importantly what it did was, open a new spectrum of view points in front of me, a more evolutionary phenomena taught to us by our epic Indian mythological sagas - like the one stated in the Bhagwat Geeta -“ karma karo fal ki iccha mat karo” - meaning that one should keep working towards their end goals without caring about the hurdles on the way and without any desires - the script also speaks symbolically about attaining moksha (fulfilment of human destiny / freedom from this cycle of rebirth) I guess again it’s the perspective that you look at it with,  that matters. I believe that the script like all religious scriptures speaks about attaining enlightenment ( gaining knowledge about existence of all beings and things) or to put in perspective, in a much simpler way being content and happy with yourself and your life.

There is nothing right and nothing wrong the sole truth is that your actions will determine where you’ll end up or how you will reach the finishing line, but you will reach, at the end of it all what will matter is did you reach there with content or more desire or despair that depends completely on how you percieve things and those experiences.

In these past Thirthy years of my life,  I have come across most sorts of people some intellectual, some love struck, some very religious, some atheists, some blindfolded by astrology, some serious disbelievers, some enterprising to the stature of Steve Jobs whereas some who were as artistic a Michael Angelo or Rafael, some very selfish and some extremely selfless. Some crazzy Disney fans living in a hoax of fairytales, whereas, some were super practical........ the list goes on and on and on.

I wanted to learn and I was taught by their stories, which first became a story, then a fable and evolved into an experience of a lifetime over the years.

What I learnt, out of all these experiences and encounters, With these varied sets, was what’s happening around you good, bad or ugly, will happen,  that’s the part of some Divine sadistic Plan of the universe (karma), all you can do is face it/ live it/ cherish it or laugh at it and just move on. Our mind is the yin and the yang, It only sees what we want it to see and believe.

After all its just one life that we have got,  “Been There and Done That” is just another phrase, that keeps us going on and the finish line is still far off, holding unknown surprises and testing our patience Over and Over again. So face it, live with it and keep moving on.
